Sid was born and raised in Marlborough, with a strong rural background on a stud sheep and beef farm. She left Blenheim at 17 to obtain a Bachelor of Commerce Degree in Valuation and Property Management from Lincoln before commencing on a valuation career here in New Zealand and in Australia.
After some overseas holiday time and 12 years in Australia, Sid returned to New Zealand in 2001 with an Australian husband and two (now teenage) boys.
She commenced work in Christchurch as a rural lending manager with the National Bank for three years, then as a Valuer for Ford Baker Valuation before commencing work with LINZ as a High Country Pastoral Lease Portfolio Manager. She shifted back to Blenheim at the end of 2008 when she began working locally with Councils, Contractors, Developers, Iwi and property owners as a project manager with APL Property Ltd before commencing work with NAI Harcourts as a commercial sales and leasing consultant in December 2013 .
The commercial field allows her to combine all her past careers in assisting where possible vendors, landlords, purchasers and tenants to find and achieve a best fit. Sid's particular strength is the ability to negotiate at all levels and seek the desired outcome.
She is a shareholder in her husband’s (Stephen) insurance brokerage company; Asset Insurance Brokers. Asset has recently established a leadership scholarship called IQ-M (Intelligence Marlborough) for our young business leaders to attend a Leadership course provided by the Icehouse; Auckland. This is one way both Sid and her husband can give back to the community – by improving our leadership we will improve business and therefore improve the community we live in.
Sid and her husband have a strong motto “We make our money locally therefore we spend it locally”.
